Chicago native Brett Baleskie has been freelancing in the Chicago theatre industry for the past ten years as a performer, scenic designer, choreographer and director. 

         As a scenic designer and artist, Brett has worked for Pride Arts, Buffalo Theater Ensemble, Metropolis Performing Arts, Brightside Theatre, Freemont Street Theatre Company, Big Noise Theatre Company, Up and Coming Theatre Company, Big Deal Productions, Little Mountain Community Theatre, Magical Starlight Theatre, Alphabet Soup Productions, Highland Park Players, Elgin Community College, Music On Stage, Lake Zurich Players, The Palace Theatre, Forte Productions and School of Performing Arts. Some shows he has collaborated on include Beauty and the Beast, Guys and Dolls, Mary Poppins, Kiss me Kate, School of Rock, Legally Blonde, Mama Mia, Barnum, Wizard of Oz, On the Town, Monty Python’s Spamalot, Hello Dolly!, The Producers, White Christmas, Sideshow, Nunsense, and A Christmas Story. Brett has been recognized multiple times for his work in various categories as a scenic designer, choreographer, director and performer at Broadway World Awards Chicago and the Lou Awards.  

           Teaching has become an integral part of Brett's mission as an artist. He has worked in numerous school districts in the Chicago area as an instructor of choreography, set design, and directing. As a set designer in the public and private school setting, he works as a solo artist while mentoring students in middle schools and high schools. Brett has worked for a multitude of schools as a repeat contracted artist including Schaumburg High School, Metea Valley High School, Rosary High School, Lemont High School, Saint James School, Conant High School, Stevenson High School, Saint Francis High School and others. A mentor of successful young artists, one of Brett's students was recognized in the Illinois High School Musical Theater Awards. Many of his students have gone on to pursue careers in the theatre field but more importantly all have become passionate supporters of the art form.
